LOS ANGELES, CA — Casey Anthony and O.J. Simpson, two of the most infamous names in criminal justice history, may be teaming up to create a reality show based upon their lives post-verdict, say sources.
Anthony, who was charged with the murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008, has reportedly reached out to Simpson’s handlers to see if he would be interested in filming a reality show on what their lives are like today.
Simpson, who famously stood trial for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman, is currently serving time in a Nevada jail on multiple charges of kidnapping. However, the former football player turned actor is eligible for parole in September and, due to good behavior, most legal analysts say his petition for parole is likely to be granted.
According to a report published by In Touch magazine (http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/casey-anthony-oj-simpson-reality-show-128322), (the reality show) “will give viewers the inside story on the aftermath of living with the horrible crimes they were ultimately acquitted of.”
In a trial that rocked the nation and drew sharp divisions between blacks and whites, Simpson, an African-American, was acquitted of the killings of Brown and Goldman, both white, by a predominantly African-American jury despite a mountain of evidence. Legal analysts at the time called the verdict a clear cut case of jury nullification and Simpson was later found responsible for the murders by a civil jury.
Anthony, too, was acquitted of the death of her toddler, who she failed to report missing for more than a month as she competed in “hot body” contests in Florida bars, and was driven into hiding by an angry public that was outraged over the verdict. Despite signs of decomposition in Anthony’s car and a wealth of circumstantial evidence against her, jury members say they could not convict Anthony because the state could not prove how the child died.
The toddler’s skeletal remains were found tossed in a swamp not far from Anthony’s home.
According to the report, Simpson says he is interested in the project and has placed Anthony on his approved visitors list while in prison.
